Answering The Call

There were many themes running through all the lectures I heard on the I Can Do It Cruise I just attended, but the one I want to discuss today really stood out.

How many of you have asked the question “what is my purpose?” or “what am I here to do?”   Many people think this is a simple question and that it is related to what job or career they have or will have.  As Caroline Myss (author of ‘Sacred Contracts’) pointed out it is not a simple question, but in fact a Mystical question and one that should not be asked lightly.  You see if we are asking such big mystical questions (and many people currently are) we need to be in the right place to receive the answers.

We are asking about Mystical things while we are living an Ego based reality and if we are not practicing prayer and meditation we may not be able to contain the answers.  What are you going to do when you actually get the answer to your question of what am I here for?  Most people either ignore the guidance or try to fit it into the reality that suits them.  You see if you were to follow that guidance you are afraid that you might lose everything or gain nothing in terms of the material world.   We spend so much time defining ourselves by what we do, what we have or what other people think of us that if you take those things away you feel you will have nothing.  However, in reality you are none of those things and the sooner you let go of them, the sooner you are likely to actually experience the things you desire because you can only experience that which you let go of.

The big question is - who are you not to follow your guidance and to answer your call?  Who are you not to be extraordinary, to shine or to contribute?  It is very arrogant (not humble) to hide your light and to believe you are not important.  We are being given guidance everyday on what we should do, where we should go and who we should spend our time with but many of us are ignoring it or questioning it.  You may say you don’t get guidance (and I am not talking here about ‘learned’ intuition) but every single person gets guidance.  You know when it is time to leave a job, relationship or situation.

You may be called to leave your job and go and do something else but you are afraid of how you will pay your bills.  If you have been called to do something then you will be supported.   God or The All does not call you to do something and then leave you un-supported!  People are afraid that if they surrender to God that they will lose everything but in fact when you do this you will actually attract things much better than you did before.

What is it that you know you are called to do?  Why are you not doing it?  We have a ton of excuses but every single teacher I heard speak suggested that our excuses are unfounded and we must let them go and I agree.  I am guilty of making excuses myself but you reach a point where the excuses do not wash anymore.  It does not matter what you are being called to do or to give up, if you know it (and I know you do) then you must listen.  You do not need to know all the steps for they shall be provided for you.  As Wayne Dyer points out in the 9 months you were in the womb everything came together perfectly and you had to do nothing, you just surrendered.  After we are born we think we can take over from the source that created us and do a better job!

Once you recognize your soul things change and you must realize that your soul only ever wants to advance whether your ego is wanting to or not!  If you feel like you are being pulled in a certain direction then I would suggest you invest time in prayer and meditation, reflection and contemplation and also in study.  Be prepared to answer the call because at this time on earth the calls are getting louder and you may be asked to step up.  Will you?

‘Yet, it takes great courage to get to know your soul.  This is because, once you do come to know it – and engage its power and live according to its authority – the divine itself will come to call.  Once you are conscious of your soul, you are likely to be “called”.’  - Caroline Myss from – ‘Entering the Castle - An Inner Path to God and Your Soul.’

Have a lovely weekend and may you walk your path joyously.

Love and light
