Changing Your Mind
I promised that this week I would cover some of the information I had learned at Wayne Dyer and as divine timing would have it I have really had to use the principles he taught me in the last few days!
I pulled a card from one of my card decks the other day and it said that I was creating a prison of my own making with my thoughts and feelings. How perfect this message was! It just backed up what I had learned with Wayne Dyer at his Excuses Be Gone workshop in Maui. So today I am going to talk about our powerful thoughts and how we can use them to create infinite possibilities in our lives.
The power of our thoughts is something I have discussed before but what I have learned recently took this to a whole new level. Think about a habit, addiction or behaviour pattern you would like to change. Now think about all your excuses for not being able to change it. Some of our most common excuses are:
It’s too hard
Change takes a long time
No one will help me
I don’t know how
I can’t afford it
And on and on… when we have excuses we are stuck in a place of fear where our ego tells us that certain things are just not possible.
Do not believe everything you think – Wayne Dyer. With every thought you think that does not serve you, ask yourself – is this thought 100% true and how do I know it is true? You can never say a thought is 100% true because we simply create thoughts. What is important to understand here is that your mind is so powerful and your thoughts will create the conditions you experience. So why not choose the thought that creates the conditions you want to experience? Does it make sense to think a thought that may or may not be true that keeps you stuck where you don’t want to be? Not really…
Choose to think as Source thinks. You are like that which you came from so you are designed to think that way. Think from your highest self and not your ego/personality. When you have excuses it is evidence that you are thinking from your ego mind but when you believe all things are possible you are thinking from your higher mind.
Awareness is one of the biggest keys to changing your thoughts. Be mindful and aware of what you are thinking (and saying) and decide if you feel it is useful to you. Be really honest with yourself. I know for myself that when I am having a fear based thought about what I do not want to happen I end up creating a lot of pain and unnecessary trouble for myself! I have to front up to myself, take responsibility and change my attitude and things always come right.
Lessons 31 to 34 in ‘A Course in Miracles’ state the following:
I am not the victim of the world I see
I have invented the world I see
There is another way of looking at the world
I could see peace in this situation instead of what I now see in it.
All of the great spiritual texts and greatest speakers, philosophers and leaders say the same thing about changing our mind as being the most powerful thing we can do. Whatever is going on in your life, whatever patterns of behaviour you wish to change you must change your mind about it first and choose the thoughts that support that and then you will change your conditions.
I heard Wayne Dyer quote that ‘the law of floatation was not discovered by the contemplation of the sinking of things.’ Doesn’t that just say it all! Think about your thoughts, contemplate them and decide to be free of the excuses you are using to limit yourself. Choose to think from your higher self and realize your unlimited potential!
A huge congratulations this week to Barack Obama! What an amazing day in history it was to have him become president of the USA. When I heard him make his acceptance speech tears streamed down my cheeks because it is a sign things are changing.
Also let’s all affirm that the result of our election this weekend be for the highest good of the all.
Have a lovely weekend. Blessings, love and light.
